The Small Council (The Six Kingdoms)
The small council is a body which advises the King of the Six Kingdoms and institutes policy at his command. It is the inner (thus "small") council of the King, essentially forming the "government cabinet" of the kingdoms.
The Hand of the King The Hand of the King is the chief advisor to the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and is the executor of the king's command in the Seven Kingdoms. The Grand Maester Sworn to serve the whole realm,the Grand Maester sits on the king's small council and acts as one of the royal advisers. Master of Coin The master of coin is the chief financial adviser of the king and is a member of the small council in King's Landing. Master of Laws The master of laws, is the king's advisor relating to the administration of justice and is a member of the small council in King's Landing. Master of Ships The master of ships is the king on the Iron Throne's advisor charged with managing the royal fleet resources and is a member of the small council in King's Landing. Often combined with Lord Admiral of the Royal fleet. Master of Whisperers The master of whisperers is the king's spymaster and is a member of the small council in the monarchy of the Seven Kingdoms. He or she is charged with gathering intelligence from the Red Keep, King's Landing, around the Seven Kingdoms, across the narrow sea, and other places. Lord Commander of the Kingsguard The Lord Commander is appointed by the king of the Seven Kingdoms, generally from the existing pool of the Kingsguard. He is a member of the small council. Lord Admiral The Lord Admiral is the commanding officer of the Royal Fleet. This position is often joined with Master of Ships, thought may be a separate party. -

The Kingsguard (The Six Kingdoms)
The Kingsguard is an elite group of seven knights, supposedly the greatest and most skilled warriors in all of Westeros, who serve as the royal bodyguard of the King of the Andals and the First Men. Their duty is to protect the king and the royal family from harm at all times.
Lord Commander of the Kingsguard The Lord Commander is appointed by the king of the Seven Kingdoms, generally from the existing pool of the Kingsguard. He is a member of the small council. The Faith of the Seven, often simply referred to as the Faith, is the dominant religion in most of the Seven Kingdoms.
